Jacek Bernard Marciniak

PhD

Jacek Marciniak graduated from Lodz University of Technology, the Faculty of Technical Physics, Informatics and Applied Mathematics in 2000. He completed postgraduate studies in IT project management at the Warsaw School of Economics in 2007. He received the degree of Doctor of Engineering in the discipline of Geodesy and Cartography at Warsaw University of Technology in 2018.

Since 2017 he is an employee of the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at the Warsaw University of Technology (Department of Cartography). Since 2015 he has been teaching at geoinformatics.

He has 20 years of professional experience in geoinformatics, navigation, image processing and artificial intelligence. He worked 7 years in Polskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wydawnictw Kartograficznych S.A. where he developed mapping and navigation products as a programmer, project manager, and finally the director of technology department. He was the main architect of Navigo navigation system, in particular the designer of the spatial data model. He was responsible for R&D team in the field of car navigation, mapping applications for PCs and mobile devices, map servers and GIS components. He led development teams in R&D center of Samsung Electronics in Warsaw for 8 years. He managed multinational projects with R&D centers in England, Israel and South Korea. Some of the projects were run in collaboration with universities in Poland and Central Europe. He worked on GNSS technologies. He created teams conducting research on image processing and recognition and on Location Based Services. He has developed Wi-Fi based positioning technologies for indoor application.
