Robert Olszewski

PhD Eng., Associate Professor at Warsaw University of Technology

Head of the Division of Cartography

Robert Olszewski deals with geographic information modeling: the extraction and acquisition of spatial knowledge and information by using artificial intelligence methods. He also focuses on the issue of a “smart city,” cartographic generalization, geostatistics, gamification, and social geoparticipation. As a result of over a dozen of years of his scientific work, he has published several monographs, over a hundred articles and completed a few dozen research grants.

Since 2011, he has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at Warsaw University of Technology. Since 2015, he has been the Head of the Department of Cartography.

A graduate of the TOP 500 Innovators program, a participant in the training devoted to the commercialization of scientific research conducted by the Haas School of Business (University of California Berkeley). As a member of the Rector's Team for Innovative Teaching Methods (INFOX), he conducts interdisciplinary project classes for Warsaw University of Technology students using Design Thinking methodology.

He collaborates with business as well as (local) government: implementing R&D projects and commercializing interdisciplinary research in the field of geoinformation, computational intelligence, spatial data services, social geoparticipation, gamification, “smart city,” and spatial data mining. He is the co-founder of the CONIUNCTA geoparticipation platform.
